Car Show

2.00 - 5.00 pm, Sunday 9th September 2012

This year's event was very successful, much helped by the glorious weather. The churchyard was full, with 47 cars, around 20 motorbikes and two pedal cycles. Even though the exhibitors are found in many ways, it is not surprising that many of them already know each other or, if not, it is a chance for them to make new contacts. So it is as much a social event for exhibitors as it is for the visiting public.

It is always difficult to single out any exhibit as being the best, but the two most novel were a Dutch tandem moped with a 48cc engine and a 1935 French Hirondel bicycle (below) where low gear was operated by pedalling backwards and high gear by pedalling forwards.

The success of the day would not have been possible without the efforts of the committee and an army of helpers, marshalling cars, selling programmes, providing cakes and serving tea and ice cream, all of which is greatly appreciated by the Friends.
