About Us

Anyone can be a 'Friend'. You do not have to be a member of the congregation, but just be concerned that the Church should be there and stand at the heart of the community.

Objectives

Seek to make the Church more of a focus for the community
Care for the Church
Maintain and improve the fabric and furnishings of the Church

What do the Friends do?

The Friends' money is spent only on the fabric and furnishings of our Parish Church. It does not go into church funds. Decisions regarding the spending of monies are taken by the members.

Since 'The Friends' were established in 1984 more than £50,000 has been raised by way of subscriptions, donations and from events organised by the Committee.

Much of this money has been paid to the Meldreth Parochial Church Council to help meet or contribute towards the cost of specific projects to improve the fabric and ambience of the Church.

Notable among these contributions is a sum of some £18,000 towards the cost of the Meeting and Storage Rooms. More recently a total of over £7,900 has been paid to meet the costs of new (and safer) staging (£2,500), essential treatment of the Church timbers (£4,600), new step-ladders (£300) and eight new chairs (£500).

Members may obtain more information about financial matters from the Treasurer.
